TAYC-R

Thinking About Your Child - Revised (TAYC-R)

TAYC-R is a digitalised relational health measure designed by clinical
psychologists.

Who TAYC-R has been designed for

It’s unique in that it’s designed for those caring for children who have
experienced developmental and relational trauma.
TAYC had been used by psychologists around the UK for a number of
years. It was initially designed to be used with care experienced
young people aged between 20 months & 18 years old, and those
adults caring for them.

The areas TAYC-R tracks:

TAYC-R measures the carer-child relationships in four dimensions:

  • parent/carer skills and understanding

  • parent/carer/child relationship

  • child’s responsiveness to being cared for

  • family/placement stability.

Background

TAYC-R is an improved and revised version of TAYC, which was a
measure originally developed in recognition that a primary need for
young people is the health of the relationships between them and
their parent/carer.
TAYC has been validated by the Rees Centre at Oxford University and
is currently the only validated relational health measure of its kind.
Following its validation, the Rees Centre recommended certain
changes to improve the reliability of the measure. This revised
measure is now called TAYC-R.

How does the digitalised TAYC-R tool work?

It's emailed out to parents and carers. It only takes a few minutes to
complete. The system then scores and analyses the data and
produces a report.

The measure can be completed at different time points enabling
individuals and agencies to assess the impact of the support provided
on the young persons relational health.

What information do you receive?

You will receive the report straight away. It will include the TAYC-R
scores, the analysis and a tracker which will show changes in each
dimension over time

How much does it cost?

It's £4.50 per measure or £4.00 each for 100 measures or more + VAT.

How do you access it?

Adoptionplus has the licence for any digitalised version of TAYC-R.
